Rest timer that runs itself
Each exercise has its own rest time, set by your plan, so you're never guessing.
- ▸Starts automatically after every set
- ▸Big full-screen countdown you can read from the bench
- ▸+30 seconds or skip with one tap
- ▸Vibrates when rest is over, and won't interrupt your music
Log every set in seconds
Weight and reps are filled in from last time, so most sets are one tap. Change them with big + and − buttons.
Know when you beat last time
Lift more than your last session and you'll see a “New best” pop up. Your PRs and progress are saved automatically.
How long should you rest between sets?
As a rough guide: 2–3 minutes for heavy compound lifts like squats and bench press, 60–90 seconds for muscle-building work, and 30–60 seconds for lighter accessory or circuit work.
Your phone buzzes when rest is over. Your music keeps playing.
Common questions
- Is there a free gym app with a rest timer?
- Yes. GymPulse is free and has a rest timer built into every workout, with no subscription.
- Do I need to download it?
- No. It works in your phone's browser at gympulse.uk, and you can add it to your home screen like an app.
- Will the timer stop my music?
- No. The rest timer stays inside the app and uses vibration, so Spotify or Apple Music keeps playing.
- Can I change the rest time?
- Yes. Add 30 seconds or skip the rest at any time, and the coach sets sensible rest times for each exercise.
